Family & Friends
Social support is important throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Research has demonstrated that there is a link between social relationships and different aspects of health and wellness. For example, perceived low social support can influence depressive symptoms during pregnancy. During pregnancy, emotional and tangible support provided by the expectant person’s family and friends is related to the expectant mother’s mental well-being.
